Domestic Centipede

The Domestic Centipede has a total of 30 legs. If contacted by a predator, any of these legs can be detached.  Moist conditions inside a structure’s foundation during winter, can contribute to a infestation. These pests are nocturnal. Points of interest are: kitchen cabinets, bathrooms and basements just to name a few. Centipedes do bite, but the bites are not poisonous.

Moist conditions under tree debris surrounding a foundation can be the cause of an infestation during winter months. Those centipedes that were living just outside of that home or business for the summer, are now seeking refuge inside for warmth.
